Doesn’t look like there’s a thread to comment on the Oscars ceremony this year, so I just want to horn in here to say that I thought Chris Rock did a brilliant monologue. I also HATE the crawl thingie listing everyone the winners want to thank. Looks as if they might have done that so that they could adhere to a shorter speech schedule, but I think it’s just going to drain the speeches of any genuine spontaneity.

I didn’t much care for lady gaga’s outfit, and what’s with the pronunciation of Charlize Theron’s last name? Chris Rock and Michael Strahan put the emphasis on the second syllable. Typically hear the emphasis on the first syllable.

Okay, whoever picked the music to play off the winners when their speeches go too long is on serious, serious drugs. They played off the best costume winner with a medley of Ride of the Valkyries and Que Sera Sera.
