We’re going on a Viking Ocean Norwegian Fjords cruise in late July, from Bergen to Greenwich. Prior to embarking in Bergen, we plan to spend 3 nights in Oslo. To get from Oslo to Bergen, we have booked the “Norway in a Nutshell” itinerary with an overnight in Flam. Then we’ll spend 3 nights in Bergen at a hotel plus a 4th night in Bergen onboard the ship. We’d welcome tips on what to do and see in Oslo and Bergen, including restaurant recomendations.
Bergen- head to the fish market right by the water, pick out a piece of fish that was just caught, they’ll wrap it in foil with some spices and throw it on the grill right there. Add a baked potato and it will be the best meal you will eat in Norway!

We did a cruise from Oslo a couple of years ago. Our flight was delayed 24 hours so we didn’t get as much time before the cruise as we had hoped, but one thing we did in Oslo that I found enjoyable was The Viking Planet. It’s an immersive digital museum, including a virtual reality experience in a viking ship. We also did a group walking tour with a guide.
