OSU Essay question

Would it be better to simply state right out why I like OSU and why I’m interested
For example:
“I like OSU because of the prestige it has garnered as a public university. It also presents a challenge, which I’m looking for in the college I attend” (or something along those lines).

OR
Something more creative, but talk less about the straight, hard, factual reasons I have for attending the university and infer the reasons indirectly.

Keep in mind the essay is limited to 300 words and they’re getting a butt load of applications.

It depends. If it’s borderline as to whether you will get admitted or not, I would definitely go the creative route to try to set your application apart from others’. If you’re fairly certain you will be admitted, then I don’t see the point in spending extra time writing a creative essay.

Wait really?
Well I’m almost 100% positive that I’m going to get in (32 ACT 3.7/4.14 GPA). Should I just stick to a “normal” cut and paste essay?

Bumpity.

Also, does a better normal essay for college increase your chances for scholarships?

Honestly, with those stats, I’d say a normal essay is fine. A more creative essay might help for scholarships at certain schools, but at OSU, the base scholarships are based on GPA and ACT/SAT requirements, not subjective factors such essays.

Like I mentioned on your other thread, to get anything higher than the base scholarships, you either have to be a national merit finalist (which you’re not, if I remember correctly) or compete in the Maximus Competition.

alright, thanks
