OSU vs. FSU vs. VT?

Hi all,

I’m new to this site. Quick note: I am a sophomore so obviously I haven’t not applied to any of these colleges yet. I was looking into UMN but realized they may be increasing tuition for OOS by over $12,000! So now I’m wondering which college would be the best fit for me of the three listed above.

Major: Biomedical engineering

What I want:

  1. Good reputation - school must be respected so I can get as best a job out of college as possible
  2. Social scene - this might sound awful but I really want a school with a great social scene. I want to experience a college party at least a few times
  3. Tolerant/Liberal
  4. Study abroad - Not a huge worry

What I don’t care about:

  1. Weather - I’m used to all types. Sunny all year round or with freezing winters, it doesn’t matter

My stats:

3.75 GPA (out of 4)
PSATs: Math 620, Reading 720 but think I’ll be able to get a perfect score next time (hopefully!)
Probably be in NHS
Mock Trial: 4 years by senior year
Red Cross

Also please tell me anything you know about these schools. Thank you!

Oh and also I played/will play JV soccer all 4 years, winter track 3 years, basketball 1 year, and lacrosse 1 year. And I’m taking at least 7 AP’s

Since you’re only a sophomore, you have time to visit each school before you decide

Florida State shares its engineering division with Florida A&M. This is an arbitrage opportunity, in that you can get the same education through Florida A&M, which costs less and has better scholarships: http://www.famu.edu/Scholarships/DSA%20Scholar%202015-2016.pdf .

What is FSU’s reputation like? And Florida A&M?

I can’t visit all of them in person due to my location
