OSU vs. GWU and other questions

I’m currently choosing between Ohio State University and GWU. Which would be better for a political science/pre-law student? OSU’s rated better, but GWU’s location is obviously ideal.

I’ll be paying about the same for both schools after financial aid.

And as for residence halls at GWU, is it better to go to Thurston and be with poli-scis or go to Potomac (I’m big on diplomacy anyways) or Mitchell (I would love a single, despite the probable cost, and I’m into the arts)?
Would I feel excluded if I didn’t live in Thurston?

Thanks!

jneohio: This was the exact choice I had to make for undergrad, and I am a poli sci/prelaw student too!

The thing is, yes OSU is technically rated higher/has a better-rated poli sci program. But honestly, I can not think of a better place to study politics in action than GW. Politics is the culture at GW; it’s everywhere. Also, if you are at all interested in internships while in undergrad, there is absolutely no comparison between the two schools- GW will provide far greater opportunities than OSU. As far as law school goes, it doesn’t matter where you go to undergrad, just how well you do while you’re there.

As far as residence halls, the “theme” of the dorm doesn’t matter at all. It really doesn’t mean anything except that you’ll get emails from time to time about events relating to the “theme.” You won’t feel left out if you don’t live in Thurston, so choose where you want to live based on living preferences and cost. Note though that since you are obviously not ED, it will probably be difficult to get a room in Potomac.
