Somebody in a different on-line forum mentioned something about Google Groups and finding themselves when they did a Search.

I had a few idle moments earlier today…I’m on-line more than usual because I’ve been ill the past few days and not much to do…and thought I’d try.

My word. I was fairly, ah, conversational back in the old pre-Internet days of Usenet. Good Lord…so much of that stuff still exists and reading some of it just about knocked me on out of my seat. It was like traveling back in time, everything from literary criticism to political analysis. It’s a little depressing that I think in some ways my writing was better 20 years ago than it was now.

The whole thing was a bit of a shock, kind of like looking in the mirror and seeing yourself as you were 20 years ago.

I’m sure that in 25 years or so, the children of the students posting now on CC will get a big kick out of reading their parents’ notes here as well as their parents’ h.s. and college blogs. Heh heh.

Cheers, I Googled my actual name. On the Usenet, lots of people used to sign posts with their real names. It’s a different world now, with funky and clever screen names, privacy issues, stalkers, the whole enchilada.

Northstarmom, a bit better but am going to see the doc later today. Thanks.
