OT: Best way to measure % body fat (at home)

There are tons of places online that offer “calculators” but I am getting pretty different answers. I know some of you guys on here are pretty active and thought you might know the best way.

Basically I really want to get myself into gear and start working out. I’m not overweight right now by any means, but I’m the kinda person that likes having numbers to document a change. So if anyone could help me that’d be great.

Cut the fat off the body.

Put it on a scale.

nuff said.

Its pretty easy assuming you have some measuring tape.

Good luck Purple Duck, losing body fat % is a great way for me personally to see results. Me being so young, I really dont see much change in terms of weight. Im 20 yrs, 200 lbs with 12.5 % body fat.

Cardio Cardio Cardio

Yeah. I actually am in pretty good shape right now, I just want to get in better shape. I have a hard time getting off my ass to go work out, but I’ll go play soccer for 5 hours straight. All my cardio comes from sports, and then I my diet isn’t the greatest so I end up not getting any change.

This may sound stupid, but I want to come back for the summer and be in great shape. It may sound like a ridiculous goal, but I legitimately think I can get a six pack if I put my mind to it. I have a flat stomach right now, and am naturally skinny with a high metabolism. If I see it through, start working out, eating right, etc. I could be looking good for my return home in the summer (and most importantly, looking good for coed soccer)

I measure it on an electric scale at home. A lot of newer electric scales will have a body fat percentage measuring feature, and they’re not very expensive. Other than that, I’m not sure how else you could do it.

^ how could an electric scale measure your % body fat

Lol I’m not exactly sure. It has like metal sensors on it that somehow measure electricity flow through your body, which in turn can determine your body fat percentage? (you can only use it barefoot). Anyway, however it works, it seems fairly accurate because the results it gave to my parents line up with those that they got professionally done.

A mirror would suffice.

^^ that’s pretty awesome

Eat a pound of creatine a day to get super swole.

the trick to 6 packs are not sit ups, its diet. So im told, dont quote me.

I dont see the big hype of abs. Dont get me wrong though, i love a good solid ab workout a few times a week. But focusing on abs to the extent most men do at the gym seems…IDK just not for me.

Like my dad always said, its better to be hard than big. All these puff balls walking around gym are filled with nothing but air and water.

^ you are right. From what I have read it is mostly diet and cutting your body fat. You need to work out your abs too, but its not a major part of it.

and your dad was talking about what again?

Haha, just kidding. But as a soccer player, I agree.
