In April of 10th grade, I went through a loooott of drama (friend stuff, not family stuff) that triggered severe depression. As a result I lost motivation and started cutting class and failing to hand in work; my English grades for the end of that year/early junior year show it. I got myself together halfway through junior year so I have 3 really bad grades. Should I put that on my application? I know it’s not what colleges want to hear but the UC application is the only application I’m doing that asks for every quarter grade and I have to explain my drop in grades somehow. So basically is it worse to write about my depression and lack of motivation or to have a few uncharacteristically low grades?

There is no harm to include it, but don’t expect it would be very helpful.
