I’ve been on CC a while. My kids are no longer in college but I am not leaving as this is the best forum I have ever found! People are intelligent and lively. Most of the discourse is friendly; even when the topic gets hot. So my question to all of you is what other forum do you use? I often go over to gardenweb but that forum pales to this one. Just curious.

I’d like to know also.

I haven’t found any other forums where the general intelligence and range of experiences is so high. I have found forums with very smart people in specific areas (technical, engineering and product) but who wants to talk shop all day?

If I got hooked on another forum, I would get nothing done. I am too close to that now.
I do check a local forum on occasion, but find the observations of most of the people to be a bit on the harsh side.

I’m afraid to check out another one too. I feel I can trust people here after several years of checking in.

My kid who first logged in with this name has since graduated college and thinks I’m immature to be here.

You don’t do the chances threads, do you DocT?

No I never did and neither did my daughter. She found this site after she had been accepted to her first choice. She only posted on her school’s blog providing info on the school for prospective students.

RunningAhead.com is great, if you’re a runner.

Nothing come close to CC.

City data has bb’s for state’s, city’s and interest area’s. Some forums are better then others. [City-Data.com Forum: Relocation, Moving, Local City Discussions](<a href=“City-Data.com Forum: Relocation, Moving, General and Local City Discussions”>City-Data.com Forum: Relocation, Moving, General and Local City Discussions) I liked Cruise Critic for port areas, even when I’m not cruising [Cruise Critic Message Boards](http://boards.cruisecritic.com/) and tripadvisor for specific area traveling. [United States Vacations, Tourism and United States Travel Reviews - TripAdvisor](http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g191-United_States-Vacations.html)

Face it, WE rock!!! :)

Between, CC, a little FB, a little more Pinterest and some activity on an entertainment forum from way back when (but the audience is not the same) I’m GOOD!

Forums historically have a habit I believe of becoming intense and argumentive. One of the wonderful things about here.

Oh, and I do follow some blogs where there are some active commenters - nothing too heavy though in topic - cooking, mothering, etc.

I am on a busy forum related to my dogs’ breed. The breed has many health issues, and there is much research being done. And there is much alternative medicine being practiced, then adopted by mainstream vets. It is fascinating and helpful as I care for my pooches, and there is application for humans. I have learned quite a lot from this group who have hands on experience on a daily basis solving issues with their dogs. The quality of posts is mixed, however. But we are a bit of a family at this point. And the breed is in danger.

I am not on FB, but there are apparently good groups on various topics about all the different breeds like this there now. Right now we are watching the Crufts dog show in UK as they for the first time are using a vet to screen out dogs with health issues. There is a lot of concern about how pedigreed pure-bred line breeding has created very very unhealthy dogs at this time in virtually all breeds. Dog shows have until this historical moment has been no more than beauty contests (except for the working classes), so the attention to health is a breakthrough.

In England, they have The Student Room, which is very similar to CC.

I like this forum. I also participate on a few related to health issues I have as well as one related to health issues my kids have. Those are of more limited interest topic range. I really like this one. Have ventured to Fodors.com’s forums but don’t find the warmth that I find at CC, nor the topic range and depth.

Not exactly a forum, but Quora is a site with intelligent and wide-ranging discussion.

kathiep, the City/Data forum, has a thread that I love regarding the city I grew up in. I find it amazing, as I can relive so many forgotten pieces of my childhood in the hundreds of pages of discussion! But for some reason, my sign in no longer works, due to a cookies issue that I can’t resolve.

If you’re a teacher, you might like this forum:

[Teacher Discussions, Blogs, Chat, Social Networking for teachers - ProTeacher Community - Ideas for Teaching, Resources for Lesson Plans, and Activities for Unit Planning](<a href=“ProTeacher Community”>http://www.proteacher.net/)

I may be totally wrong, but there are a lot of Christian school teachers. It’s kinda set up like CC, with the same crazy

system, but I like this better.

I love to travel so I also frequent flyertalk.com. The expertise of the people on that forum on any travel related topics can’t be beat, except college admissions.

thanks a lot for the Student Room tip - we’re looking at both UK & US and I’m hoping it will be as insightful as CC is.
