During the news conference I’m pretty sure the doctors said they don’t really know how long Otto has been in a coma.
They said they got some reports which were sent with Otto that were DATED a year ago but that they don’t know if that is actually true
They do know he did not have botulism so that was a definite lie. You can’t trust anything from NoKo.
But the doctors said that the progression of the brain injury was consistent with the MRI being dated as March 2016 and then July 2016. Seems likely those dates are correct or close.
No reason to send the MRI disc at all if they were fake.
Just got a BBC alert that he has passed away.
Unfortunate but maybe his death will be a deterrent to others who think going to NK would be a fun trip.
Yes, the people article 4 minutes ago also said he died.
Anyone contemplating traveling there has issues. It is definitely a dangerous place, especially for Americans.
This is so sad. That poor young man and his poor parents.
I am so sad about this. The fact that I have two young adult males as children makes this very hard.
I imagine they stopped whatever life support he was getting. So, so sad for his family.
Really just shocking. Wondering if North Korea knew he had little time left and did not want him to die on their soil. My prayers are with this family – here they thought they were getting their son back, were informed last week he was in a coma and now this. Cannot imagine their grief. Just an awful situation.
So, so, sad. And I hate to say but maybe an autopsy may reveal what actually happened to him.
I feel a lot of compassion for these parents. To have a child die is unthinkable. To know he has been tortured is tortuous for their hearts. Mistake to have gone to N. Korea, but no parents should have to endure this, nor did this young man deserve this treatment.
@gouf78 I hope the family allows it. It would help us to know what we’re dealing with over there.
As a family member though, I would NOT want to know the results. I wouldn’t want to know what happened to him.
At least his parents got to be by his side, even if he was unresponsive. A tragedy
Mr. Warmbier’s statement indicated that Otto looked more at peace when he got home than he did when he arrived. I have to think that somewhere in his coma he must have sensed the love of his family surrounding him.
Praying for his family.
I hope it is true that he sensed he was home and could be at peace. Rest in peace young man.
I’m so glad he was home. Heart-broken for his family, but at least they were with him.
I like to believe that he knew his mother’s touch and was comforted by it. So very sad all around.
“As a family member though, I would NOT want to know the results. I wouldn’t want to know what happened to
him.”–Roman
I totally respect that view.
But…
I would want to know what happened to the fullest.
I would want to know that my anger focused towards an administration and another country (anger not going away) was worth my inner turnoil for the last year. What could have been done?
It may not make a difference in the final result but it certainly would make a difference to me.
Oh my goodness, this entire situation is heartbreaking. So darn sad it ended this way.
So sad. My prayers are with them all
Just Heartbreaking
My heart is broken for this family. I am thankful that Otto is no longer suffering, as a life in a vegetative state is pure torture. I am so sad that his young life was filled with horrible suffering and the suffering for his family will go on for such a long time.
