My D will be a freshman at Cornell in the fall and we are from the midwest. Long long drive but she is super excited! The campus is beautiful and hopefully you will enjoy your visit in April with some nice spring weather in Ithaca.
Hi everyone, my daughter was accepted to Brown, Cornell and has already been accepted to Wash U! So some fantastic choices and this month should be very interesting trying to decide. I’m so excited she is in the driver’s seat now, though, and she is thrilled to be wanted! Things are looking very good. Thanks for your support!
Congrats!
It will be hard to choose among such good schools.
It’s Brown! Very excited for her. She loved it and it’s a really good fit for size and personality. So funny because Brown was not an initial top choice at all, but it all works out. Thanks for all of your kind words. Most people here have never heard of Brown but that’s okay. They just smile and nod and so do we.
Congratulations all around, to you, to your daughter. While there is a recurring theme on CC about not ‘bragging’ to the parents of your child’s classmates about such great news, I want to say that I am always thrilled to hear good news like this about any of my son’s friends, or anyone else in any of the area schools where I live.
For me, truly the biggest heartache is to see high school graduates flounder and stagnate with no direction, and the ones being held back by parents, their dreams being being non supported by parents breaks my heart. Yet to see young adults continually reaching their potentials: beautiful.
So when you Share your news to others in your town, realize many will be happy for you and your daughter. Also realize that your experience, your daughter’s experience, will more than likely be observed by others in your non-description town, opening the door for others to follow in similar steps now that your daughter has shown the way. Just as you received help from the mom of the out of town college student, you will probably be sharing your knowledge with those wanting to know how best to head in that direction.
Congrats!! Great school!! She will love it!
Congrats @sunseeker ! It’s always great to see gifted kids reach for the stars and achieve their dreams. Good job to you as well for being so supportive of her and her goals, she couldn’t have done it without you. All those times you spent reading up on gifted kids to try to understand and better support her, do you feel like it’s all paying off now? :)Brown is just the beginning, a step towards achieving her bigger goals in life. Does she know what she wants to study there?
