Out of curiosity....

I am a rising senior debating whether or not to apply to Yale SCEA. I have legacy at Yale, (my mom went) and could be recruited for the golf team. I go to a public school that has sent one student to Yale in the past 8 years. I am within the top 5% of my graduating class and my ec’s are average for a Yale applicant. What should my goal score be for the SAT in order to become a competitive applicant? I love Yale, but am skeptical to apply SCEA because it is so competitive and I feel it might “waste” my early application. Would being recruited and having legacy greatly improve my chances of acceptance?

Legacy will have negligible impact, being a recruited golfer could have a significant impact. If Yale is your first choice, you’re not wasting your early application. Aim for mid-700s in all three SAT sections.
