Out of State chances?

So I checked collegeboard and Davis is something like 97% in-state?! Does that mean it would be much harder for an out-of-state applicant to get accepted? Or only slightly harder?

I’m an Asian female from Virginia, thinking of majoring in Design possibly with a double major or minor in other humanities/arts.

Chance me? Also what are my chances for merit scholarships (darn that out-of-state tuition…)

Brief stats:
3.8ish UW, dunno what my UC Gpa would be
2280 SAT (one sitting…am pretty annoyed that UCs don’t accept composite!)
232 PSAT, anticipating semi-finalist at least

Color guard/Marching band & winter guard 4 years, captain 2 years
Lit mag poetry editor 2 years, prose editor next year
NHS
Full-tuition scholarship to Parsons the New School for Design summer intensive
2nd place B’nai Brinth Diverse Minds- National children’s book contest
Various poetry publications & awards
Co-founder of Fashion for A Cause club
Creative Director of fashion show next spring

Also-- does Davis accept art portfolios as supplements?

TIA!
Tessa

What the numbers don’t tell you is how little non-resident applications we receive for Undergraduate admissions compared to resident applications. The only difference you will be facing is a slightly higher GPA, 3.4 non-residents GPA vs. 3.0 residents GPA, compared to resident applicants. As long as you are UC eligible and a well qualified student, http://admissions.ucdavis.edu/admissions/fr_exceeding_eligibility.cfm</a> , you have a decent chance of being admitted. For more reassurance, after we determine eligibility we don’t review residency information to select our students.
You will only need to submit a complete Application for Undergraduate Admissions and Scholarships for full consideration. We will not review any supplemental information including portfolios, letters of recommendations or interviews to select students.

I’d say you have a good chance of making it in - your UW GPA is already above the minimum and those are great SAT scores. Plus, you have a lot of ECs.
