I’m an 11th grade student living in South Carolina with a 4.783 GPA, and I’m involved in the school’s ProStart culinary program and the robotics club. At the moment I’m divided between going to school for a Computer Science degree, or for the Culinary Arts instead. Money’s a bit tight, but for personal reasons I’m set on going to school out of state. What schools on the east coast offer scholarships for SC residents? I know Johnson & Wales in Charlotte, NC offers the Life Scholarship to SC residents, but I don’t think North Carolina will work out for me. What other schools have similar offers?
Well, we need to know TEST scores. Those will determine which schools will give you merit scholarships.
However, they won’t be free rides, so how will the other costs get covered? How much will your family pay each year?
Are you low income?
How much is the Life Scholarship from J&W? How would you cover the remaining costs?
Edit…the JWU award is ONLY up to $3k per year. That will still leave you with high costs.
OP see what you can do on ACT and SAT. Some schools will have scholarships for that in combination with your GPA…
I would suggest going for CS if you are strong in math and science and enjoy programming.
You can always do culinary arts as hobby, or even work your way through school between maybe working in a school computer lab and some restaurant.
You want to go to school with lower costs. Don’t want a lot of school debt.
