Out of State Students

Where I live, most people go to the same colleges as their friends, so they already have a social network set up. Since Penn State is a public school and most students come from Pennsylvania, is it hard for out of state students to make friends?

not at all! I'm from New Jersey and although a lot of people from my high school are at Penn State, I don't hang out with them all the time. Even those who have friends at college with them are open to finding more people to hang out with. Especially if their friends are not taking classes with them. The first couple of weeks you'll meet a ton of people, everyone was just as nervous as you are.

I think it'll be fine. Think about the transfers we've all made from elementary school to middle school and then again to high school. We've all had friends we've kept over the years but we always meet new people.

Eventhough I may attend a university where many of my highschool students may also attend, I wouldn't really have a social network already there. I mean ofcourse I would know more college students there, but it's not that friendship where it's like okay we cant wait to hang out in college. With that said, I'm sure there are tons of other students in my situationn, and looking forward to meeting new people.
