Out of State Transfer Credits to Berk?

Hello,

I’m interested in applying to UC Berkeley, Haas School of Business. I just started going to a CC this past Spring 2012 semester after a 4 year hiatus. During that break, I attended college at an out of state, private university called Hawaii Pacific University (HPU).

Originally, I intended to leave the credits I received at HPU out of my application to Haas completely (GPA wasn’t that high), but researched that this was impossible. At my current CC, I’m maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

In order to fulfill the prerequisite requirements to get into Haas, should I take courses that I KNOW FOR SURE will transfer over to Berkeley (due to assist.org’s articulation page), even though I took similar courses at HPU? For example, I took an introductory business course at HPU. I don’t know if this will transfer to Berkeley, so should I just take the introductory business course at my CC, where I know for sure it will transfer?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

You should call and ask.

At my CalSo, I learned that some people did manage to get their credits transferred from out-of-state, while others did not. There were even some UC-to-UC transfers who were not able to transfer their courses, so that’s something to keep in mind.

To my understanding, there is also a petition form where you can argue that your, for example, business course meets the same standards as their business course.
