<p>I have a question regarding about transferring from a four-year university outside of California to CSU. My major is Mechanical Engineering. My primary choice would to get into CSULB or CSUF. I’m transferring from a california community college and my gpa is above average. If I cannot get into any of my primary choice, my last choice would be UND since they offer a good flight training program which I complete there, plus I have relatives that live there.</p>
<p>Let’s say I finish a year of the upper division courses at UND, is it possible to transfer the credit to CSUF/CSULB? Would my chances of getting in decrease since I’m not transferring directly from a california community college?</p>
<p>yes, your chances would decrease… as for transferring credits, OOS University -> CSU can be a bit tricky, since they are dealt with on a case-by-case basis. I’m sure at least SOME will transfer, but I highly doubt all of them will, since the curriculum and such at UND are probably different from what they have at CSUF/CSULB for the Mechanical Engineering major… your best bet would be to compare the requirements for the ME major at UND and the CSU side by side. See which classes seem similar (judging from the course descriptions and titles), and then take the ones at UND that seem to best correspond with the ones at a CSU.
If you have a above average GPA though, I don’t see why you would not get in!

<p>I’m thinking if the CSUs are not already doing it, they will follow the lead of UCs and drastically increase the number of OOS students because they need the extra tuition dollars they bring. I think your biggest question is whether you want to spend $25K/yr (and rising) in this overcrowded system where it’s hard to get classes if you have a better option.</p>
