out of state

how does UCLA evaluate out of staters? i hear they automatically toss your application if your transcript has a C on it.

UCLA evaluates out-of-staters in the same manner as in-staters, but the bar is raised overall for out-of-staters. You still apply with the same online PATHWAYS form and submit the same scores/transcript information as in-staters. No, they won’t toss your application if you have a C… In fact, I think had a C+ in Grade 9 English and they didn’t seem to mind.

i had a C in ap stats. they accepted me. don’t stress out about it, but i must say there seems to be a bit of luck involved. i got in with much lower stats than other people i know (i’m from chicago). it just depends on if they see something extra in you. goodluck!

doubtful, because in my state, you can get a c and it won’t show up on your trascript - the only thing that factors into our GPA/appears on transcript is the ‘final’ grade (i.e. ACAAAA = A). so, that wouldn’t be fair if somebody from another state got tossed out because of a c one quarter!

in any case, most schools don’t operate like that. they take into account a lot more factors than one grade in one class. that said, ucla is a really tough school to get into out of state…so good luck…

Admissions will recalculate your GPA based on the CA equation. It also depends on which program you want to enter.

Good luck!

i had 3 C’s on my transcript. one was from freshman year though, and the UC’s don’t count freshman grades. apparently the other 2 C’s (both from junior year, same teacher) didn’t hinder my admission into ucla.
