Out of State?

How difficult is it for out-of-state students to get accepted to Berkeley? Is it Ivy-level competition? Less? More?
Thanks in advance!

It's getting less predictable these days because of the budget issues. The admissions policy for OOS students is rapidly changing.

It used to be that OOS students had it harder than in-state students since the University of California was intended to educate students in California. However, California had not been paying its bill, so the UCs are starting to revoke that promise on the premise that the state has not been holding up its side of the deal.

The result: there will be more many OOS students, but the competition is hard to pinpoint. However, if you are interested and think Berkeley might be the place for you, you should definitely apply!
