Out-of-Stater Aunt teaches at UNC?

I have an average SAT score, I’m from New York… I dont take APs but NYS has some of the highest standards for its students anyways. I work part time 20/wk, tons of ecs, including the president of a club, volunteer experience etc. I have like a 3.5 gpa, I do well in school probably top 20-25% 90’s are the grades I usually get… I wish I took some APs… But anywho my aunt teaches at UNC as a Professor of Maternal and Child Health at the School of Public Health. I am also an african-american/latina, born in Australia… My guidance counselor told me she thinks my aunt teaching there might give me a heads-up? I’m applying regardless I just wanted to know what my chances are? I want to major in International Relations/Studies and I study both Italian and French and got 100% on both regents exams.
Thanks in advance

bump plz respond :-(

at the tour i took of the school they said that out-of-staters needed above a 1300 to even have a chance, also the admissions rate for out-of-staters is more like 12%, making it VERY difficult for even the top students to get in. unc also recieves more than 50% of it’s applications from out-state and can only have a freshman class with a max of 18% of its students from out of state. that is my knowledge on OOS admissions at unc.

I don’t think that your aunt working at unc will give you that much of an edge…there are just so many other professors that maybe have nephers/other family members going to carolina…I think that the admissions committee will treat the credibility of your aunt with the same credibility of an alumni
