OUTSIDE INFO!?!?

Okay, so, I’m a sophomore who has taken the PSAT, and that’s about it. I’m taking the SAT this Saturday, and I know it’s really foolish of me to not study more beforehand, but this is not the time for a lecture. I don’t have time to get one of the famed blue books (and at this point, it’d just be a waste of money), so I am turning to online for help. I’ve been reading about how the SAT essay section works, and I’m super confused. Do I need outside information as evidence to support my essays?? I thought it was give you the prompt and a passage, then analyze the passage and answer the prompt. However, most people seem to talk about various historical events or books you should include in your essays???

The old SAT essay required students to supply their own examples. The NEW essay doesn’t–it’s a rhetorical analysis of a provided text. @tupac4

thank you!
