I’m an international student and planning on applying ED, but I’m not able to visit the campus.

I’ve only seen pictures of the campus and they look beautiful, but I would also like to know how life outside of campus is.

Also I’m in doubt because all the other schools I’m applying to are really close to big cities like NYC, Boston etc. I have an opinion about both these cities but I have no idea about North Carolina and it just seems too far from there.

So what is it actually like for you people that actually live there?

This is a blog by an individual who lives in the Trinity Park neighborhood near West campus (where the freshmen live). It might give you some insights into the town. There are also links to other Durham blogs on the left hand side of the page.

This website is for the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill area. It’s aimed at people moving to the area. It has information you won’t be interested in, but it also has information about neighborhoods, shopping, etc.

This is a link to the Duke International House. See the right hand side that said I-House Handouts? The shopping and eating out gives you an idea of what is around campus. You might even want to contact I-House staff to see if a current international student from your country might be willing to contact you about what it is like to live in Durham.
