<p>Hi. If I receive an outside scholarship, and the financial award letter says I only have to work for 1,000 and not the usual 2,000 b/c i got 1000 in outside scholarships, where does that 1000 go to? just to the school? as far as i know, money from on-campus jobs goes to living expenses, books, travel, and such. so would the school give me the 1000 in my account automatically like i actually worked to earn it or does it go straight to the financial aid office funds?</p>
<p>Any money that is left over after tuition and room/board goes directly to your account to pay other expenses, this includes the funds from the scholarship if it’s in excess of those expenses. All the school has done is reduced the amount you have to work, but in the end the amount of benefit you receive is still the same (you just got the scholarship as a “gift” without having to work for it).</p>
