"Outside Study"

I’m taking a couple of courses that say “nine hours outside study”. Anyone want to describe what that might entail?

its like homework plus self studying should be around 9 hours. obviously it is not enforces but the class will be harder than say a class that requires 6 hours outside study

It means you better schedule your classes accordingly because you’ll be in your room/library a lot! :-p

I can only speak for engineering courses – 9 hours of outside study composes of time an average student SHOULD spend reading the textbook, notes, lab manuals, research, abstracts, doing homework sets, group projects, individual projects, and other related activities. Of course, not all of these will be assigned at the same time. Also, most students will not spend this exact amount of time. 9 hours per week is not bad. An EE class states 12 hours/week on the EE department website!

I would say something else, but I retract that statement .
