outstanding at lesser school or average at transfer? (undergrad, for eventual MBA)

I am a freshman undergrad chem major applying for transfer to Georgetown, Virginia, and Vanderbilt from Villanova University. I did very well my first semester (3.94). In high school, I was always the kid who was pretty good at just about everything (a very balanced student, and good enough to get into villanova) but never good enough to get those “best in the class” kind of awards.

but it seems that the more time that I spend here, the more I become that “best in the class” kid. my chem prof invited me to do research with her this summer, i was invited into the honors program, and I was recently invited to the national society of collegiate scholars (although to be honest, im not sure if thats legitimate, or just a load of BS).

i am a chem major, but my end goal is business (MBA). for applying to grad school and jobs, which looks better: an undergrad degree from a grown/uva/vandy where i would (probably) be middle of the pack among them, say a 3.3-6, or a 3.7+ villanova degree with the added accolades?

Stay with Villanova. For MBA it’s not so much what you got but what you do with what you got.

anyone else?

Being the big fish in a small pond has its advantages. I’m in a similar situation at an undergrad b-school (Univ. of Pittsburgh), and I’ve been able to do an independent study with a professor, take two MBA courses, and act as a TA for an upper level finance course.

Being one of the top students, or at the very least, most ambitious, has enabled me to get an experience I’d not have received otherwise.

I’d say stick it out with Nova. Personally, I consider it to be a very good school anyway.
