Hi all, I am new to this website. I have enjoyed reading and getting great info from everyone. That said, thought I would ask if anyone has experience w/ outward bound? This would be for my 9th grade son, who could use a boost in motivation, self confidence, etc. He needs to be pushed and to see that he can rise to the occasion. Incredibly smart kid, not very motivated. Has aspirations to join the military, like his dad. Side note, my husband/his dad passed away 5 yrs ago. He has internalized a lot of his grief. I have him seeing a (male) psychologist to have someone to help guide him through the teen yrs, and he suggested a wilderness type of program like Outward bound, to let him know what he is really capable of. Ps I have read the older threads on OB but they are 4+ yrs old. I’d like some more recent reviews. Thanks everyone and glad to be here.
Outward Bound has a lot of different programs depending on the state. Where would you be looking?
Also consider Nols. My S did a month long backpack trip in Wyoming with them when he was in high school.
