OV and offers

Anyone with previous experience with Ivy swimming, how do they offer a spot ? Before OV(I saw some said there were verbal even before OV), during OV(how do they process), or after OV?
If you are not offered a spot during the OV, does it mean you do not have any chance but to apply as a walk-on?

I’m not sure about swimming…but in gymnastics, there are no athletic offers for Ivies. I could be SO wrong on this.
Best of luck to you!

swimHYP: All of the above. Some will be given verbal offers long before the OV, some will receive offers during the OV and some will receive offers after the OV. Many teams will take walk-ons.

If and when you receive an offer, will depend on your relative attractiveness as a recruit. Some recruits will receive an offer of a likely letter (“LL”) shortly after the coach has spoken with his or her swimmers following the OV. Others may not know for several weeks if a coach will support them for a LL.

txgym1: Although the Ivys do not offer athletic or academic scholarships, they do make non-financial offers in gymnastics.

No - you may still be offered a spot/ LL after the OV. During the OV the coach may say he has x more recruits coming out and will have a clearer picture after they visit. If you’re his top 1 or 2, the offer may come during the OV, if you’re 4 or 5, your offer may be contingent on what 1, 2 and 3 decide to do.
