I still have one more year to get more service hours, awards and raise my ACT. I will take the PSAT and SAT (Reasoning and Subject) this year as well. So are Ivy League schools going to laugh at me for applying or do I have a chance?

Ok, it’s a little early to be taking the ACT, but you definitely need to raise your score for Cornell, Columbia, Northwestern and Brown.

Only one reply? If you chance me, I’ll chance you!

you need to raise your ACT score.

w/ a 29 ACT…reject at Brown, Nothwestern, cornell, columbia.

29’s gonna be a little low for northwestern, columbia, brown, etc. you’ll do better at the end of your junior year. you’ve still got plenty of time. try taking the SAT too. i did a lot better on the SAT than i did on the ACT.
chance me?

'09! Wooooooooot!

I’m in your same position.

By the way, how the heck can you take Chemistry and Physics AB in the same year? You really should take chemistry before even starting physics, that’s what most colleges and top colleges want.

Otherwise you look pretty good and being valedictorian is a plus. Just get your ACT score up a few points and you’ll have a better chance.

okay so i’m getting a lot of “raise your act score”…what is a good act score for these schools…and is there anything else i can do besides tests scores?

" By the way, how the heck can you take Chemistry and Physics AB in the same year? "

I’m not really sure…my counselor said it was fine and my ap physics class is a joke (smartest ppl in the class get A’s and a 1 on the AP test) is it bad that i’m taking it with chem?

Well, I dunno. Last time I checked AP Physics was definitely not a joke course  So what’s the point of taking AP Physics if your chance of getting high marks in AP exam is significantly low? I’d subsitute AP Physics with AP Euro if I were you. And raise your ACTs. I can almost guarantee you 29 will not keep you in a competitive standing. 30~32 will be enough for Wisconsin, CMU, NYU (Maybe Cornell), and higher for the rest.
