I am applying to UCLA as my first choice college as a Freshman in the fall and have been comparing my stats with their undergraduate profile recently.

The only lacking part of my application is the overall number of college preparatory semesters I took in high school from grades 9-12.

Here’s my upcoming Senior Year Schedule:

+AP Calculus AB
+AP English Literature
+AP US Government
+AP Physics
Service Elective (non-academic)

The classes marked with a + are college prep classes. With these classes, I will have 43 overall college prep semesters completed in high school. But on UCLA’s undergraduate profile, the most admits had above 47 semesters in high school. My counselor recommended I take a really easy college prep class (such as Psychology - which is a joke at our school) in order to add an extra 2 semesters of college prep and have the college see that you’re taking 5 academic classes as a senior. (I’ll also have to start school at 7 am - instead of 8 am - if I add Psychology to my schedule).

She kept mentioning how important it is to have 5 academic classes in your senior year - but I know people that got into UCLA with these same 4.

My question is: Is my above schedule fine with 43 semesters completed? Or should I push myself and add Psychology to boost the number to 45 semesters and start school at 7 am every day? Does it really matter? Does UCLA really take into consideration the number of college prep classes you took in high school? Is it as important as your GPA, transcript, and test scores?

Please help! I have to have my schedule finalized in the next couple of days.
