Overlap between two UC essays?

Hey everyone. As I’m writing my essays, I’ve noticed something that I need some clarification on.

So UC-4 asks you about an educational opportunity, and UC-6 asks about a subject you are passionate about. I’m writing UC-6 about a subject I’m interested in, and I’m writing UC-4 about an educational opportunity I had that focuses on said subject.

The problem is that when I read both rough drafts, they both come out saying the same thing about me, albeit a little difference. So my question is that are the UCs ok if these two essays overlap somewhat or do they need to say a completely different thing about me?

It’s allowed, if that’s what you mean. But, strategically, not the best way to go. Ideally, each PIQ will reveal a new and different side to you. As a general rule, only ONE should be related to your intended major/subject. The other three should be used to show other dimensions. If two of your PIQs are essentially saying the same thing about you and not revealing a new side or new information about you, that is less than ideal. It is OK if they overlap a little bit, but they do need to say and show different things.
