Overloading

So I was browsing OPUS and 2 of the classes I wanted were full. I’ve heard about overloading, but don’t really know when it’s done or how to be considered. Can I have more on this please?

It’s up to the professor to decide, so you’ll have to e-mail him/her. Generally if it’s one of the popular courses w/ multiple sections they won’t overload as long as one of the sections is still open (eg gen chem and bio), and they also won’t usually overload people into the freshmen seminar or freshmen english courses unless all the sections have filled up. And PE classes rarely get overloaded as well since you have all 4 yrs to take them. And for other classes, generally it’s the juniors/seniors that are more likely to get overloaded since they have less time/chances to complete the class.

But for most freshmen, the best way to get into a filled up class is to stalk OPUS 24/7 during add/drop/swap.
