Overlook Gpa?

will colleges understand/overlook a gpa of 3.1-3.4 if the applicant takes 2 APs and 5 IB classes?

bumppppppppppppppppppppppp

That’s better than having no AP or IB classes and having 3.1-3.4 ish, but they would still want a higher GPA

dammit!!!

i hate college

woah…dont be so hasty…itll depend on what college your looking at…obviously for hyps you are probably out of luck…but there are plenty of other schools who would be willing to overlook a lower gpa…

Honestly, does anyone believe colleges overlook anything? What is your question really? Will you get into colleges where your stats are below average because you took AP classes? Below the top 25 or so colleges, except state schools that are totally numbers driven, there is wiggle room. If everything in your states and efforts are above average and your GPA is little below, you still have a shot. If the average GPA is 3.5 and you have a 3.1, you probably don’t have much of a shot without a hook. Why would anyone overlook GPA, the absolute most telling aspect of your high school efforts?

well i want to get into fordham…do you think i have a chance with a 3.1-3.4 gpa (not sure) but with great ecs and because ima minority?

Fordham, yeah, it’s worth a try. If colleges see that you are very involved outside of school and as long as most of your grades/test scores are decent, and you write a very good essay, I think you can do it. A friend of mine got into Carnegie Mellon and Stanford University with a 3.3 to 3.4 ish GPA. He’s such a sweet and involved kid though so I think that really helped him a lot–his reccomendations I’m sure were extremely strong.

what were his sats? btw thanx!!

I’m not sure… they were probably decent though… (math isn’t his strength) I don’t think they were anything too amazing though.
