Overreacting? Helping Child with Grandparent's Death

I think it was ok for your husband to ask what he did. We lost my grandpa this summer and though he was my daughters’ great-grandfather they were very close. It was absolutely devastating. He died a few days before my daughter returned from China. We picked her up at the airport, stopped at Buffalo Wild Wings and listened to her happy stories.

When we got home we told her. It was awful. Thank God for her boyfriend who was there and stayed with her the whole time. The calling hours were the next day and when she saw the body she fell into a heap on the floor and just cried and cried.

I don’t know if there is an “appropriate” for certain things when a death has occurred. You need who you need.

God Bless.
