I have a nephew who is a PA. He graduated with a BS in some sort of biology and went to a PA program in Arizona. It is very intense–like a little over a year and a half of straight through schooling, including practical training. He had no trouble getting a job and is paid quite well. It’s worked for him.

I believe that there are 4 year programs for physician assistants–I would expect them to be very accelerated in content!

There are several posts on this subject under “Professional and Graduate School”. Search the words “physician assistant”. I just posted about the 5 year programs that I found in my hours of research. These are 5 year programs where you get a BS and Masters’s degree. I don’t know anything about the 4 year BS degrees, as I don’t think you see them very often.

DS has two friends who are physicians assistants. Both went to five year programs which I believe included some kind of internship requirement as well. Neither of them even found a school that had a four year ONLY requirement for PAs.

S2’s university offers a PA program but one must have completed a bachelor’s degree prior to entering the program and then apply for admission. It takes 27 months to complete. It is pretty selective. This program only admits 30 students per yr.
