Overzealous?

I am a California Community College kid seeking to transfer to a private out of state school and I’m trying to see if anybody has heard good things about the transfer acceptance rates of these fine schools:

(In no particular order)
Duke
Swarthmore
Vassar
Georgetown
Brown
UPenn

Thanks a bunch

dude—Duke last year took .05 percent, i don’t think you or anyone has a prayer unless you have to be an athlete (i.e. lacross player)

swarthmore/vassar take very few

u got a shot at Gtown

Brown/Penn def toss-ups, if u don’t have a 4.0, ur chances are slim, and u better have a great h.s. record, one semester of 4.0 at a CC isn’t enough to show that u can handle the work at these places

duke accepted .05 percent???..that’s 1 in every 200 students. Do you mean 5% or is it really that low?

y don’t u just go to a UC?

I apologize .05% would be 1 in every 2000 students

duke is very very low. 8 out of like 1000

i like the sarcasm about the lacrosse player reference in the Duke statement, but I know I won’t be applying to Duke mainly because when I requested for information on the school, they still haven’t sent it and I asked for this last november… Seems they deter transfer students from applying…

I figured as much as Swarthmore and Vassar

How much of a good shot does a person have in getting into Georgetown?

Brown and Penn will be the reach schools…much like Vassar, Georgetown, and Swarthmore…

Thanks for your advice

don’t get me wrong… I will be applying to the UC’s as well… UCLA seems to be my community college’s UC favorite and about 85% of our transfers get admitted into UCLA… UC Berkeley doesn’t have a good connection with southern california community colleges so I think that’s my reach UC, and UCSD… oh and USC because they have an awesome communications, international relations program to die for…

but i am choosing to expand my horizons instead of succumbing to the stereotype that from a california community college, you should transfer to a state school or stay in california…not how i roll man :)
