I want to major in Astrophysics and I am wondering whether oxford or harvard would be better, I also love history and would want to get some good history classes in, any help greatly appreciated.

Hahvard!! 10 char

Have you investigated the mode of instruction at each college? The tutorial system at Oxford is quite different from the course system at Harvard.

By the way, Oxford would not let an astrophysics major study history for academic credit, although no one would stop you from attending history lectures in your spare time.

When you have been accepted at both, you can worry about this problem.

Yeah, even if you have amazing credentials, are a genius, etc… understand that Harvard is a crapshot for everyone, and the same for Oxford.

Are either of those schools known for their astrophysics department? And are undergrads a priority for them? Most Ivy League/Top-whatever schools have those reputations for graduate programs, not undergraduate education.

If you want to do astrophysics, look for schools with a strong program. Program prestige is more important than overall school prestige and sometimes smaller schools have better departments than larger schools.

And honestly, with both having an ~10% acceptance rate, it’s more likely that you don’t get into either, so start looking for safety and match schools.
