. I have a few more questions regarding PACE. How likely are you to get the major choice that you want. For instance, my first choice is to go to Mccombs. Ideally, I would like to transfer in to BHP in my sophomore year. However, my question is … can I still do that with PACE?

@mehh1234, after looking at your stats, I would have expected you to be accepted to McCombs and perhaps even an interview for BHP. The people on CC with lots of experience would probably say that you may have put yourself in this position - based on all your previous posts where you ask people to “Chance” you for a dozen or so schools. Several of those schools are nationally competitive with UT Austin McCombs, and some are higher.

You probably listed all those schools on your UT application. Other CCers have noted to other kids with good stats that the ADCOMS look at your application and they may decide not to offer you acceptance because you are obviously seeking OOS Business Schools and you are likely to get accepted at those schools. (Now, whether you can afford those schools as OOS is completely different issue.)

Here is one of your “Chance Me” threads:

Chance Me - U Michigian, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UNC, virginia tech

I’m waiting for admission releases like everyone else. I’
I’m in the top 11% batch of 1300 + students
SAT - 2190 → 750M 730W 710CR
Math II - 800 World History 800 ----> SAT Subject Tests
I have done a bunch of EC’s
Debate for all 4 years - State finalist for 2 years, state qualifier all 4 years
Tennis All 4 years - Varsity from sophomore year
Youth and Government 4 years
NHS and other volunteering put together 250 + hours of volunteering
and more

Ive applied to umichigan normal admission with preferred to ross. this would be a top choice for me.

UNC and Virginia Tech are also schools that I’ve applied for but not early.

Also I’ve taken I think 7 ap exams (bc calc,world history, euro, us history, English human geo compsci . 5 on all of them cept 4 on compsci and I’m taking 7 ap’s this yr( physics c stat macro micro music theory Spanish English}

I hope that some of these other schools come through for you with merit money if you need it. And I am sorry you are in this position with UT Austin, as it is a difficult one to navigate (especially for someone like you that has a lot of top schools on your radar). I don’t have experience with PACE or BHP, so I’ll let someone chime in that does.

I’m in the same situation as mehh1234, except that my stats are better and I was applying to even more selective schools. I applied to Mccombs and didn’t even get in to UT (offered PACE.)

Lots2do, thanks for your input. It’s interesting to think that one possible reason for this unexpected decision is that they assumed I would never choose UT over schools like Harvard.

I remember wondering why on the UT application there were questions like, “What other Universities are you applying to?”

It’s a huge blow to my future hopes, however, because I had considered UT a safety school (applied to undeclared-major as well as Business.) I had never even considered the possibility that I would not make it into the undeclared school.

Mehh1234, I would advise you to demonstrate an interest in UT by contacting your admissions counselor and others at UT in the hopes of being one of the very few taken off the waitlist. If they turned us down because we are overqualified, it’s likely that they would accept us if they felt we had a strong desire to attend.

Lol @lots2do your insight is definitely a different perspective. However I don’t think this May be the situation because I talked to an admissions office person and and he said that the competitive schools like McCombs and cockerel usually “overadmit” students. For instance if they have a 1000 seats they will admit 1100. They do this because they apparently expect quite a few of their applicants to not commit to ut. So basically, they would have still accepted me if they really wanted me to be in the major. However, I would like to still look at things from your perspective cuz it’s a nicer aspect and I’m glad u think I will get into my other schools but honestly I have a more pessimistic perspective because of this wait list from UT which I personally considered a good match school for me. Seeing as some of these are reaches for me … Well let’s just hope for the best shall we :)

@EtiquetteofWar
You can try appealing but from my conversation with an admissions rep … “There is a marginal chance of being accepted through appeals.” Word for word. The reason why he said ppl usually get in through appeals is if there was a legitimate mistake on their app ( like messed up sats or rank) but otherwise the appeals process isn’t that valued because they have already spent time in thoroughly reviewing your app.

Have you found any information about the Waitlist at UT?
I’m not thrilled about PACE, so I will continue to explore all options. I’ve heard that although few people get taken off the Waitlist, it’s often the people who demonstrate the most interest in the college by talking to admissions, asking questions, etc…
