I have questions about pacing break. Would appreciate any info. First, do most kids leave campus? My daughter is loving lehigh and has already told us she might stay on campus. Her five siblings are having a huge issue with that. Also, at what point in the aemester does it occur? If the students have homework over that break there is no way she would be able to get it done with her sibs bugging her! Anyone have experience with this?

Thanks
Judy

We live several states away, so our son has stayed on campus. He would be traveling one full day each way, so it’s not feasible to spend that much time in airports/airplanes for maybe one day at home.

He didn’t feel lonely or homesick during the break. There were other kids in his situation. Several friends have offered to let him come home with him over the break, but I think he really needed and enjoyed the down time to sleep and take it easy.

Pacing break is October 12-15 this year. I have two children at Lehigh and neither of them came home their freshman year. As a mom, I would of encouraged them to stay if they didn’t plan on it. Also, Family weekend is the week after Pacing Break this year so if your child doesn’t come home you can visit then next weekend.

My son has only come home once and he is a Senior - it was kind of a waste as he had a 6 hour drive each way.

Students within a reasonable driving distance typically go home. I’m 1.5 hours from Lehigh, so it’s easier for me. This year I plan on spending half the break at home, and the other half visiting my sister down at Johns Hopkins.

Campus is still bustling during Pacing Break, so no worries if your student can’t make the trip home.

Best,
