Packers vs. Steelers

Steelers all the way!!!

Packers, all the way. As a Cowboys fan, I could never root for the Steelers.

Don’t hold the actions of a few against the many. “Big & Stupid” Rothlisberger does not represent the entire team. Many loyal Steeler fans are conflicted about him. And don’t hold the actions of a few bad apples throwing stuff against many decent Steelers fans. I know folks who have been pelted with dog biscuits in Cleveland’s legendary Dawg Pound.

These are two storied football teams & I think it’s going to be a great game!

Saluting all the Cheeseheads with my ~Terrible Towel~

“When in Pittsburgh, the Steelers fans have thrown pennies, batteries, and bottles at him. He’s just there doing his job. Yet that’s how the fans treat the visiting team.”

Hey, hating our QB is fine, he earned his reputation. The fans? I have to think that your hubby musta been inciting these incidents. Steeler fans are the best.

Go Steelers!

^^Actually, I disagree. Nobody deserves to have things thrown at them, especially a working camera man. The actions of a few bad apples reflect poorly on even the best fans.

Thank you, 12rmh18.

Unfortunately, the QB does represent the entire team. It’s disgraceful that the respected Rooney family values winning above basic values. Go Packers.

While I clearly root for the Packers (see first comment in this thread), personally, I think it would be nice if this thread TRIES to stay fan friendly - as possible. The OP asked for reasons to root for a team, not reasons to root against a team.

It’s gonna be a long two weeks of waiting and I’m sure the media and such will give us plenty of reasons to get ugly. So let’s don’t. :)

agree, mamabear. And as far as post 24, I think it’s unseemly to blame the cameraman for actions taken by the fans (“he asked for it” sure concurs with the blame the victim mentality it takes to excuse Ben, though!). This statement reflects negatively on the fans.

“My husband works for the Steelers’ rival. He is on the sideline at every game” How did this become a statement about a cameraman?

What a jump! Some guy on sideline gets hit with something, must be all Steeler fans, must be tied to QB bad behavior. Really??

Maybe the dude needs to get a different job. Oh, I know, this reflects badly on everyone at whom you wish to throw stones!

12rmh18 knows my husband is an NFL camerman because I have said so before on a different thread.

Yeah, Rodgers’ tackle of Urlacher was semi-hilarious. And yes, I did exaggerate about low scores in Green Bay’s victories…BUT NOT BY MUCH. LOL.

And another thang…

everyone knows that the Steeler Defense was not spectacular this year. Heck, the two games against the Jets proved that.

I repeat, NOBODY deserves to have things thrown at them. It reflects poorly on everyone.

Agreed. Lack of civility was the reason they closed the CC Political forum. My apologies if I unintentionally fanned the flames.

I must confess, the highlight of both yesterday’s games was Raji’s TD. I loved watching a defensive tackle celebrate a TD.

Thanks so much for the comments! Both teams sound very home grown and deep rooted, supported by a tremendously loyal fan base. I see that my first instinct is to tune into the QBs, and so I am going to let that be the factor that decides. Who do you feel is more deserving of the win?

Agree with staying positive and all that.

“My husband works for the Steelers’ rival. He is on the sideline at every game” How did this become a statement about a cameraman?

@Collegekidsmom, don’t you feel rather silly? DougBetsy’s H is an NFL cameraman & so you assume that he is someone attending a game as a fan & gets things thrown at him by the Steelers’ fans! When all he is doing is just doing his job for the NFL & making a living to provide for his family!

“He’s just there doing his job. Yet that’s how the fans treat the visiting team.”

@SLUMOM, don’t you feel rather silly? From this post one wouldn’t assume that he’s a cameraman or a fan. Since the recent disclosure of his job I’ve changed my opinion somewhat. As a cameraman he is unlikely to be inciting fans. Our fans are patted and seached upon admission to our stadium. I’m surprised to hear that the objects that aren’t caught in the search are thrown at the cameraman. Who knew? I’d have guessed that ugly fans would have picked a different target.

Why is a cameraman considered a “Steelers’ rival” ? Longtime Steeler fan here. Having lived in several states besides Pennsylvania, we’ve noticed that the Steelers have much larger following than the Packers. Steeler Nation will celebrate a 7th Superbowl win soon!

Before some of you cast stones, The Packers are not all saints either. Brandon Underwood, a married man with kids , created a scandal last year for the Packers by going with a bunch of his Packers buddies to a strip club. He hooked up with a couple of prostitutes who initially said he raped them but they later changed their story. Sounds pretty sleazy to me. How come no uproar about that? Wonder how that fits in with the Packers “basic values.” There seem to be bad apples on many teams. Hopefully,Ben has learned his lesson. These are both great storied teams with great fan bases. I’m looking forward to the game. Go Steelers!

My mom used to watch the Packers practice at Green Bay East High School. Then her family moved to Chicago. She could NOT decide who to cheer for yesterday!

Garland, Omar Epps and Mike Nolin sure could pass for brothers.

Much of our neighborhood cheers for Pittsburgh since the Redskins are perpetually in the outhouse and there are those still angry that our tax dollars paid for the Ravens’ stadium.

Can I just say, GO CAPS?!?

Psychmom, you rabble rouser! You must cheer for the Steelers. Do the Packers have their own polka? “The Packer Polka” just doesn’t sound right. :)
