Packers vs. Steelers

Polkas and pierogies. How could you not go with the Steelers? Plus, we have the anthem too by Pittsburgh guy Wiz Khalifa, an ode to Pittsburgh-Black and Yellow ,which he got to sing at the Pittsburgh-Jets game. We love our city! Pittsburgh pride, baby!

Who me??? {{{psychmom innocently adjusts her halo}}} I wouldn’t dream of starting anything on CC!

But really, is this game going to be a battle of the defenses? Greeeattt!!!

One reason to root against Pittsburgh: the hamburger-french fries all in one sandwich. What in the world? Of course, Wisconsin cheddar cheese on top apple pie could be just as bad. Incidentally, the best cheddar comes from Oregon and Upstate New York, just saying!

Lake Washington, Primanti’s is a reason to root FOR Pittsburgh, not against. Lots of tradition and good food! I usually get the capicola (sp?) at Primanti’s. The bread is delicioius.

Hey… what about bratwurst???

Not too shabby of tailgating food!

I dunno: bratwurst & cheese fondue vs. Primanti’s & pierogies. Tough call for my carb-loving inner German. Ooops, should we be comparing quarterbacks & defensive strategies?

The socialist, community-owned team should win, though the trade unionists will give them a good game.

This was true once upon a time, but Wisconsin now has some top-notch artisanal cheesemakers whose cheddar is as good as anything you’ll get out of Oregon or New York. They just don’t let much of it out of the state, except what’s smuggled out by a few high-end grocers in Minneapolis-St. Paul who get their hands on enough to keep us happy. Not that your average beer-swilling Packers fan is into high-end cheese.

“Not that your average beer-swilling Packers fan is into high-end cheese.”

Those socialists are strictly proletarian.

I knew I was in for something the first winter in Madison when I went to a nearly empty supermarket and the the pa system was playing the radio broadcast of a Packers game. The best time to shop is during the game. No one is out and about.

BTW, plenty of Vikings and Bears fans here because they’re border states. SE Wisconsin has lots and lots of Bears fans. OTOH lots of Packer fans in Chicago.

Mini - I have a very difficult time picturing you sitting in front of a TV watching a bunch of adult men hurling bodies at each other. Please don’t disillusion me.

I grew up near Pittsburgh and live in Wisconsin. Gonna be a great super bowl as far as I am concerned, but I gotta root for the Packers. I love the fact that they are the only non-profit professional sports team in the country. Aaron Rodgers is a class act. I love Donald Driver. And Clay Matthews on defense is fun to watch!

It will hard …

… to root for one of those two team, especially after always supporting the team that plays against the Packers or Steelers

… to get another reminder that the local team could have been there --had they won twice as many games as they did

— for the refs to pick one team to advantage as they usually do with the Packers and Steelers in the post-season.

Now, I should pick a team. Two weeks ago, I rooted for Seattle, Baltimore, New England, and Atlanta. Last week, I rooted for the Jets and Chicago. See a pattern?

So this week, I’ll take … the Steelers. And this time I could not care less if I am right or wrong when I find out the results after the game. :)

I’m still a sad Patriots Fan…sigh…and am pretty apathetic about the Steelers vs Packers…but I’ll be on the side of the underdog Packers. Sometimes it’s just fun to watch a game without worrying about my home team.

Yeah, this Pats fan is probs going to root for the proletarians cheeseheads. Because of that supermarket story. They do that in N Engl, too, with Red Sox games.

This very sad Giants fan (what a difference one epicly bad quarter can make) will root for the team that put the nail in our coffin–like someone else said, you want the team that beat you to be the best.

Although definitely not a football fan, the Steelers and the Packers are my two favorite teams. Of the two, I’m definitely for the Packers. I love the fact that they essentially are owned by the fans, rather than by some odious billionaire.

I hate all teams from New York, Florida, Texas, and California on principal. (Except the Amazin’ years of the Mets.)

I may actually watch the game this year. :)

I’m leaning towards the Packers. I think I’d rather root for Rodgers, and I tend to favor the underdog team.

I appreciate all the comments…the game will be more interesting to watch now.

Well, the College Board is also owned by its members. See how much love they get from their adoring fans! :)

Hah, Shennie! The S, Wisconsin born and raised, graduated from Pitt. States his favorite teams playing leaves him so torn, is better to miss the game. Doubt it will be broadcast on the train he’s riding in India, so will be safe from conflicted loyalties.
