I looked and I could not find any info. What percentage of students hold paid summer internships at UMass?
I am planning on majoring in Econ and Finance and any help would be appreciated.

this is a great thread. please share any info, all. I don’t know of any. Most internships my kids have done are unpaid.
Can’t speak to percentages, only personal information. My D is a current sophomore in Isenberg, also double majoring in Finance and Econ. She has about a 3.9 gpa. The summer between her freshman and sophomore year she had a part time paid internship (about 32hrs per week) at a local bank. It wasn’t much money per hour (just above minimum wage) but it can be hard for freshman to get internships so this was great and gave her something to put on her resume.
For the summer between sophomore and junior year she already has lined up a full time paid internship at a tech company in Cambridge in their finance dept. She will be making $15/hr more than she made last summer.
Good luck!
I don’t think UMass would even have this info unless they do a campus wide survey on it that I don’t know about. The only record that UMass could keep are the amount of students who register their internships for credit hours, and those can be paid or unpaid. I’ve applied to quite a few internships so far this year as a freshman (most of which are paid). From what it looks like though, most of the recruiters treat this school like any other big school, I wouldn’t say it stands out much. I’m assuming you got in Isenberg because you said you wanted to be a finance major. Being in Isenberg myself, I’d say you have almost as good of a chance as someone who went to BU or Northeastern when it comes to landing an internship (maybe not as good as some of the even higher ranked business schools like Bentley or BC’s). You could probably go contact the Chase Career Center (which is separate from the UMass general career center and is exclusively for Isenberg students) if you want more info on this type of stuff.
