Has anyone attended/ know any info on Pau? I’m a transfer student and would like to know whether the school is legit. I’d prefer to transfer out of it for my masters (to attend a UC) but would that be difficult.
I don’t know alot about them but, PAU has a campus and is ‘legit’ in that they offer degrees.
generally, you’d earn an bachelors degree then apply to masters program - which will have its own admission standards. Some schools offer BS/MS 5 year degrees but, that doesn’t appear to be their thing. It is a private school so, an undergrad transfer to a UC from PAU would be unusual.
I don’t understand your transfer comment/question. what are you looking for?
I remember when it was called the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology. My impression of it was that it was a legit school that hardly anyone knew about.
I don’t know why they changed the name to Palo Alto University. It’s still a legitimate, accredited school, but now it sounds like one of those places where you get a degree using credits for life experience.
By “legit” do you mean a name respected enough by employers to hire its graduates? For example. many from Devry claim they have gotten ripped off with a worthless degree?
yes, I mean do graduates from pau have a good hiring rate among employers. I heard that its doctorate program , though great, does not have a good hiring rate. I couldn’t find much info about the undergrad program though. Whats the schools overall ranking compared to csu’s and UC’s?
What do you mean by obtaining degrees by using credits for life experience? If it were one of those schools would it be best to transfer to a UC or CSU?
There are a number of for-profit, diploma mills that will grant degrees with minimal classroom attendance. The idea is you pay them a lot of money, they grant credit based on “life experience,” such as previous jobs, and they send you a degree. A lot of the diploma mills come up with names that are meant to trick people into believing that the degrees are associated with a more respected school. Examples are University of Berkley and Cal Southern University.
Palo Alto University is not a diploma mill, but the name makes it sound like it’s a diploma mill that’s trying to associate itself with Stanford. “Pacific Graduate School of Psychology” sounded a lot better, at least to my ears.
