Hello, I will be a senior in fall of 2013. For my upcoming senior year I have been presented with a scheduling conflict that will only allow me to choose one of two programs I have been accepted to. One is PALs (Peer Assistance and Leadership), an elite class with a rigorous applications process that does tons of community as well as school service, in addition to mentoring at risk kids in nearby elementary and middle schools. I was a member last year and have been accepted as a PAL 2 for a second year.
My other choice is to remain a member of the school wind ensemble (top band) for a second year. I was in the middle band 9th and 10th grade and moved up my junior year. We have been selected to perform at the Midwest clinic in Chicago which is VERY prestigious. I’m also a flute section leader. 2 years of PALs vs. 4 years of band, 2 at the top with leadership positions?

Which of these is more attractive to colleges? I have been searching for a loophole to allow me to do both classes, but all the counselors at school are telling me to start thinking about which one to choose. I just don’t know what will look better on an application.
