Thanks for looking over this thread - I really appreciate it!

Dude You are in to all of them. Now you can relax.

Where are you from. If you need much aid OOS publics usually are not a good place to get it.

Your work this summer sounds interesting.

But your in-school ECs are spotty and inconsistent. Asian club for two years? Key club for one year? Track for one year? Anything that you did freshman year and then quit counts for nothing. In fact, it may speak negatively about your ability to commit.

And no one cares about your 7th and 8th grade marks. I think they’re dragging your GPA down. And why they would keep you on the advanced math track when you weren’t succeeding baffles me.

That said, your ACT is actually a little low for UMich out of state. And your ECs + your GPA leave a little to be desired. It’s a reach. But by all mean go for it!

In everywhere but UMich – UMich could be a slight reach.

I’m currently a resident in Illinois - which is why UIUC is probably my top choice.

I know I’ve had some really horrible in-school EC … in fact it’s practically non-existent. The only thing I can say about running is: “I liked cross country more than track … so I switched over.” As for the other in-school ECs … they can’t be bothered with.

The grades I got in 7th and 8th grade (at least the high school classes I listed) will appear on my transcipt … so those horrible grades in Math from 7th and 8th grade aren’t going to be hidden by any means.

Thanks for replying guys!
Any other takers?

Based on your stats, I’d say you have good chances at all of those colleges, although U Mich AA might be more of a reach for you than the others. UIUC is definitely do-able, though, in my opinion :)

Also, I’ve been to the Univ. of Iowa for ARML, and it’s actually a pretty decent place as far at the environment is concerned. Just giving you a bit of my opinion :)

Good luck and enjoy your summer!

Chance me back?

I would say that you are almost certainly in at all of them besides University of Michigan. The average GPA there is about 3.7, and out-of-state admissions is very competitive. You ACT score is also a little low. I would still apply, but not necessarily expect to get in.

what kind of asian are you? your math skills beat your reading skills!???

lol … that’s basically what everyone else said

Michigan’s going to be a bit of a reach for you, UIUC’s a match, and Illinois Tech and Iowa are going to be safeties.

I don’t see you getting into UMICH with a 3.3 and OOS.
