Another silly ranking: the “CC Popularity Index”

Worth very little, but fun to put together…seeing how many VIEWS different Ivies receive here on CC, I started looking to see if some other popular colleges also were viewed with similar volume. However, after I perused a few others, I realized that some of the big state schools must get many views just because they are big and vice-versa. So I built a spreadsheet listing all of CC’s colleges (Ivies, LACs, all others), their corresponding # of VIEWS for the past month, and their full-time undergraduate enrollment from the 2005 US News best colleges, then normalized the number of views by enrollment. The resulting “CC Popularity Index” is calculated by dividing # of Views per month by enrollment. Ranked in order of descending index, here are the top 50:

You know, those safe little retreats where the newly admitted are invited to gather in private to congratulate themselves on their brilliant achievement?

Or, you know, to meet each other, find out invaluable information about what we’re getting into next year, and find out when people are getting mailings so we don’ fall behind ;)

Jeez, Princeton board is definitely the cool place to be, I guess. I’ve always enjoyed checking it out, and all you cool Princeton people almost made me apply, even though I knew virtually nothing about the place.

byerly: I have no idea. I really don’t know much about Princeton except its general greatness of reputation. I never even visited. One of my favorite things about Brown though was the open curriculum, which Princeton doesn’t have. So I don’t know. I would have given it a hell of a look though.

i am beginning to think tht byerly dont go to Harvard at all…maybe he is a yalie and this is like one of those practical jokes that yale plays on Harvard…if it is…hats off to Yale…they have surely turned a lot of ppl against their rivals…;)
