Paper App question

Q1: I am filling out the paper application. For the 2-D image, do I glue a picture on the paper…this seems kind of weird but there’s no other way…

Q2: When Rice asks about how many other schools you’re applying to: does it expect you to list out all of them, or just a few? I mean why would they asks this question b/c I think by listing out some other universities, this would only make the applicant seem like he or she is not as interested in Rice and therefore would hurt the applicant’s chances to get into Rice. Anyone agree?

1) Glue it on there if you need to. As long as you have something meaningful to you in the box, you’ll be fine.

2) I listed only six out of the nine other colleges I applied to. I only put those six because they have A) basically the same ranking as Rice or B) a significant reputation in Texas, which I thought showed that I’m a strong, competitive applicant.

Why have you decided to do the paper app… or are you doing only the supplement on paper and the rest online?

Oh, yea, it’s just the supplement that’s via paper. Thanks for your good advice! However, if you don’t list out all the colleges, do you think Rice would know?

I didn’t list all the others I applied to, only the ones exactly on rank with Rice and a little below, to indicate that I wasn’t just applying to Rice in case I didn’t get into something better. I ended up with a really nice merit scholarship (presumably to lure me away from an Ivy League school that I ended up turning down) and that was a huge reason why I came to Rice =)

No rice will not know
