My bio father has never been in my life and my mother’s husband left her last year after filing jointly. Do I have to report my mother’s husband’s income?
You don’t have a choice. It will be automatically transferred from the IRS when your mother completes her section. I am guessing that she will be asked some additional questions about her income. I believe you will need to reach out to each school to let them know your situation & ask what they need to address the situation and make sure only your mom’s income is considered. She needs to indicate in her section that she is separated.
