Hi. I enrolled in Boston College for the class of 2014. I am an american citizen but live in Venezuela. The financial aid package that they gave me in BC was acceptable. As some of you may know, my country is ruled by a socialist/comunist called Hugo Chaez who is intent on destroying the country. Last weekend the government closed down my family’s bussiness for no other reason than having private property is a bad thing. Is it possible to contact the financial aid office and ask for more aid this year, or should I just wait for next year. Thanks.

and people here say Obama is bad…they have no idea what socialism is!

yours is a very unusual circumstance for which a college will likely be accommodating. The issue is getting documentation to establish what happened. If there is a newspaper article saying that your family’s business was closed, that may suffice. I doubt that the government would provide documentation of these events. The FA office may take your word for it. They may not.

I hope you and your family remain safe.

^ Excellent advice.

Documentation might be the trickiest part though.
