This is not school related, but I think that’s okay. Alright, so my parents’ anniversary is May 4th, and I want to book them a little trip. They currently live in northern Virginia (1 hour south of DC) in suburbia.

Here are the destinations I think would be really fun, not too far, and not too expensive:
-Atlantic City, NJ
-Wilmington, NC

They are both well under $500 for hotels for 3 nights, not bad. They are in driving distance therefore reducing travel costs. Any suggestions on the east coast would be appreciated! FYI, it’s been 28 years!

How sweet of you to plan something special for them. I’ve not been to either of the specific locations you mention, but I wonder if Atlantic City isn’t still recovering from Hurricane Sandy. I’ve been through parts of North Carolina (specifically the Blue Ridge Mountains) and it was absolutely gorgeous. No matter what you decide, I’m sure they’ll be delighted.

Great idea. Depends on what they are in to. I’m not a gambler so Atlantic City would not be on my list (and have been there, done that). But what do they like to do?

Wilmington is nice but probably a 4 plus hour drive. The New Bern/Beaufort area is very nice .

Annapolis/Eastern Shore of Maryland.

Longwood Gardens. Wilmington,De.

Williamsburg area.

Depends on what they like and how far they want to drive. Good luck!

I think they wouldn’t mind driving 4-5 hours. But certainly no more than that. I didn’t even think of Wilmington, Delaware.

My parents are very simple. They don’t really like to gamble. They would probably just walk around the boardwalk, go to the beach. But you’re right. I would have to see what the shape of NJ is like post hurricane in May. I’m hoping it will be in much better shape but that’s definitely something I need to keep in mind.

They like to fish! They like going on boats, and I was looking up this package deal for dolphin watching in Atlantic City so I thought that may be nice. I also like the idea of Eastern Shore of Maryland. They LOVE seafood, and being outside on a boat.

They’ve been to Williamsburg before, Busch Gardens and the Colonial tour so I think I want to try something else for them. I will research the places you’ve mentioned!

Where did they meet? Maybe a trip down memory lane…dinner in a restaurant there and perhaps a bed and breakfast. You could have a bottle of a sparkiling beverage there waiting for them :)

KSM- they actually met in Italy (Isle of Capri). They were both stationed there. Yeah, Italy unfortunately is out of my price range. But good suggestion though.

Ooh… I’ll check out Cape May and thanks for sending link Sevmom. Checking out St. Michaels as we speak :)
