Parents going back to college

How is everyone doing? I am graduating, along with @oldmom4896, in May. But I am done! Finished my research project, class work complete, and podium presentation at conference finished! I’m actually volunteering again!

Yes! I am graduating with my MSW on 5/22. But I won’t be done with classes or fieldwork until the week before. I am worrying about my clients at the day program for mentally ill adults where I work three days a week, one client in particular who did not click with his previous worker but has made enormous strides in the past few months. He is almost the same age as my daughter and schizophrenic, and he will always have challenges, but I am so proud of him and I’m doing all I can do to advocate that he get a worker who understands him after I leave.

I was happy to finish my last.midterms.ever! I take my licensing exam on May 3. And I am looking for a job! I guess we’ll see if an almost-71-year-old MSW with the date she got her undergraduate degree on her resume is called for interviews.

Congratulations, @GTalum! I know from another thread that you’ve had a lot going on in your life; hope it helps that the work on your degree is done!

Hitting the end of semester home stretch. I have to make out a schedule to get everything done.

@Lizardly, I know the feeling!

I just passed my MSW licensing exam! Yay! 2 more weeks of class and fieldwork, and the next week is graduation!

Congrats!!!

Yay @oldmom4896 Congrats! I graduate in 6 days! I’ve been offered a faculty job at the university and I might accept.

Congrats

Congrats @GTalum !

Wow, @GTalum! That’s fabulous!

Yay! Will you walk the stage? Will family come watch?

I will go to the hooding ceremony. Sadly my only family member will be DH. Mom died about 7 weeks ago, my father is too demented, my daughter needs to work, and my son live in Australia.

I will go to the department graduation and walk, along with 250 other MSWs. My daughter, a niece and my aunt are coming and I am thrilled! That’s the same entourage who attended my daughter’s college graduation last year. We’re skipping the big university-wide graduation.

Graduated yesterday! It was good. I didn’t know I needed that sense of closure.

@GTalum I am so happy for you! I still have a big paper to write. But this is my last weekend of homework, ever!

Oldmom4896, LMSW here!

Congrats, @oldmom4896 !!!

Congratulations to all! I attended a party last week for my friend’s graduation - she had originally quit school when she married (people did that, even in the ‘70s). Her first grandchild is due in September, so she wanted to be finished by then.

Congratulations, @oldmom4896!

Congrats @oldmom4896
